Behar The Torah portion begins with the laws of Shemitah, the Sabbatical year, where the Jewish people are commanded to not plant their fields or tend to them in the seventh year. Every 50th year is the Yovel, the Jubilee year, where agricultural activity is also proscribed. |

Fellow Or Atid Members, Last weekend's visit with Rabbi Howard Mandell was well attended and very enjoyable. Many thanks to all who assisted and participated in the many activities throughout the weekend. Rabbi Mandell was invited after review of multiple resumes and a screening telephone interview revealed that he was the candidate most likely to "fit" with the style and needs of Or Atid. More than 40 people enjoyed Friday Shabbat dinner with Rabbi Mandell followed by services. After services at the Oneg Shabbat, Rabbi Mandell attempted to speak personally with as many people as possible. |
