Rabbi Rachel Barenblat (The Velveteen Rabbi) was named one of America’s Most Inspiring Rabbis by the Forward in 2016. She has served since 2011 as spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel of the Berkshires and is co-founder of Bayit: Building Jewish, where she leads publishing and the Liturgical Arts Working Group. She holds an MFA in Writing and Literature and is the author of six volumes of poetry. Since 2003, she has blogged as The Velveteen Rabbi, named one of TIME’s top 25 websites in 2008. Her work blends spiritual reflection, poetry, and Jewish wisdom.
