September 2025 Session: White Chalk, Black Chalk, and Ritual Purity

Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 7 to 8 PM on Zoom ONLY

In the Late Second Temple Period, we begin to see more and more vessels made out of stone, especially white chalk and later black chalk – bowls, cups, plates, pots, basins, and even tables. We will be looking at where the chalk came from, how the vessels were made, and why these were important to the Jewish community, especially around Jerusalem.

Each class in this series is an independent topic, so, even if you have never joined us before, feel free to “drop in”!
