Lunch - and - Learn

The How’s and Why’s of the Shabbat Service

Saturday, March 16th, 12:15 - 2:00 PM

Rabbi Hal and the Adult Education Committee extend a warm invitation to our third Lunch-and-Learn event, “Jewish Prayer Part 2 - The How’s and Why’s of the Shabbat Service.” We will enjoy food and continue the discussion started last fall on the topic of Jewish Prayer. This session will focus on the practical aspects of the service: Why do we say this? Why do we stand for this and sit for that?

Shabbat Services at 10:00 AM

Kiddush Lunch-and-Learn at 12:15 PM.

You do not have to attend services, but the experience will provide the basis for our conversation. As an added bonus, the 6-7th graders of the Kornblau Religious School will be leading services that morning as they prepare for their B’nai Mitzvah.

Registration for this event is now closed.
If you need to make an edit to your RSVP, please contact the office.

A Very Disney Purim

Wednesday, March 20th, 6:00 - 7:30 PM

Hear the story of Purim with a Disney twist, as students re-tell the Megillah through songs and and puns. Students of the Kornblau Religious School have been eagerly working on our Disney-themed Purim Spiel, and our one-time performance will take place during the Congregational Purim Celebration. Snacks and Refreshments will be served.

Do you like to sing? Are you a fan of Disney music? Part of our Disney Purim Spiel includes rewritten Disney songs that tell the story of Purim. Students will be performing these songs during our play, and will be joined by members of Or Atid's singing group. If you would be interested in singing for the play, please contact Alison Litvin, Education Coordinator, at relschool@oratid.org

Non-Jew Crew

Hardywood Brewery in West Creek

Wednesday, April 10th, 7:30 PM

Our first Non-Jew Crew event will take place Wednesday, April 10th, at 7:30 PM at the Hardywood Brewery in West Creek. Join us for an open conversation with Rabbi Hal as we discuss what it means to be a non-Jewish member of a synagogue. Can someone who’s not Jewish have a rabbi? What is a non-Jew’s role during their Jewish family’s holiday? We'll address these topics, and more, at our first meeting of the Non-Jew Crew!
